You asked for it so here it is! Another full body, at home pilates workout — this time using an exercise band for added challenge.
Why You Want This:
Working out at home has so many benefits. These three are my favorite:
- Saving between $20 and $150 per month on gym memberships — not to mention the cost of dropping in to a Pilates class, which could run anywhere between $15 and $35.
- Spending what would be travel time on more useful things — like stretching or making a delicious breakfast smoothie.
- And perhaps best of all I love wearing my daggiest (Australian speak for uncool / unfashionable) workout outfit. Yes, I did wear this t-shirt to bed … got a problem with that?
Why You Need This:
For this workout in particular I have used an inexpensive exercise band to add resistance and bring you results even faster.
How To Get Your Fiancé On Board:
This is a good one for him too. When he hesitates just remind him that Pilates was created by a man and used to train champion boxers (as well as ballet dancers … )
Stopping Your Objections In Their Tracks
If you’re as excited as I am about this at home Pilates workout then skip to the end of this post and get started girlfriend!
But if you find it hard to get motivated to exercise at home let’s take a minute and bust through those objections.
Problem: It feels weird to workout in my living room.
Solution: Do you have a spare room or a garage that you can turn into a designated workout space? How about your backyard? I don’t have access to any of these so I find that turning away from the couch and TV helps me separate the relaxing space from the fitness space.
Problem: I can’t get motivated without other people.
Solution: Grab your favorite workout playlist and crank up the music. Next set a timer and race against the clock. Finally, play a workout video where someone is talking to you so you don’t feel like you’re the only person in the room.

Problem: I have the best intentions but I get distracted by other things at home.
Solution: Set up your workout space the night before. This includes laying out your mat, lining up your equipment and filling a water bottle. The only difference between training at home or at the gym is location, it still needs to feel like a legitimate workout. Also deciding exactly when you’ll workout and starting right on time will make it feel more like you’re going to an exercise class.
My last tip is to just do it to it. Grab your mat and let’s get started.
