Today’s brand new workout is inspired by HIIT, strength training, dance and Pilates, to keep your mind and muscles as engaged as you are! I’m calling it the mindbodybride Mashup and it’s the perfect way to boost your bridal fitness in 2016.
I’m a big fan of combining random fitness elements in my workouts (even though it causes a few raised eyebrows in the gym) so I hope you find this 9 minute workout as fun as I do! Keep in mind that it’s easy to follow and it provides options for all levels.
To balance your bridal fitness routine this week I have provided a workout guide below. Notice that I recommend one rest day, one stretch day and one low intensity steady state cardio day, that’s because fitness, as with everything in life, is about moderation and not excess.
Your Weekly Workout Guide
- Day One: Bridal Fitness Mashup (video below)
- Day Two: Steady State Cardio (such as a low impact power walk, jog, cycle or swim)
- Day Three: Yogalates Series or Pilates Flow
- Day Four: Bridal Fitness Mashup (repeat video below)
- Day Five: Rest Day
- Day Six: Sprint (fast and flat or slow incline)
- Day Seven: Stretch Day (jump on the foam roller and show those muscles some love)
Since writing about my own exercise addiction (here) I’ve been contacted by so many women who’ve had a similar experience. Over-exercising is not only bad for your body, it really mess with your mind. I used to think that I had to workout like crazy to achieve my “dream” body but in reality it wasn’t until I exercised less that I was able to find and maintain my ideal weight, release oodles of stress and get more enjoyment out of every day.
Show your body the love and respect it deserves by not flogging it at the gym or committing to grueling workouts that you hate. You can get amazing results, physically and mentally, with short bursts of moderate-intensity exercise — and today’s workout is just the ticket.
Why You Want This
This workout combines your strength and cardio training in one, which means that in 9 minute your day’s fitness goals will be done and dusted.
Why You Need This
Training your body in multiple directions increases your overall fitness and helps to improve muscular balance and alignment. Today we are moving up and down, side-to-side, backwards and forwards, fast and slow, and alternating between body weight and added weight … It’s going to be fabulous!
How To Get Your Fiancé On Board
I created this workout earlier this year for an L.A. bootcamp that I hosted and the gents loved it as much as the ladies (but that doesn’t mean we have to tell him that changements are a ballet move)!
Okie dokie you wonderful woman, grab a yoga mat and one heavy weight and let’s do it to it.
