360º Pilates Leg Workout

Happy Monday beauties! Today’s 360º Pilates leg workout takes less than 12 minutes and will leave you feeling the burn.

By simply using bodyweight resistance exercises we will tone the front and back of the legs, gluteals, and inner and outer thighs for some seriously pin-up worthy pins.

Why You Want (And Need) This

I just spent an amazing weekend in Portland, Oregon with a girlfriend where we walked over 30 miles in three days! Having strong legs allowed me to keep exploring that beautiful city, hour after hour, without exhaustion or racking up a huge über receipt.

Imagine walking the streets of Paris, bike riding through Amsterdam, or snorkeling in Tahiti on your honeymoon. You don’t want to miss out on doing anything and everything you want because you feel fatigued. Strong legs will keep you moving forward (literally) and allow you to spend more energy on the important things … like finding the perfect croissant!

But the benefits don’t stop there. Here are three reasons why brides are better with strong legs:

They make your workouts easier and more effective: With a wedding to plan and a life to live, maximum results in the least amount of time should be your number one fitness goal. Strong legs will take you there.

Having a strong lower body not only improves your lunges, it also provides you with more plyometric power (think jumping squats, burpees, and high-knee runs) and endurance for cardio exercises.

They help you burn more calories (all day long): Since the leg muscles are some of the largest in the body they also burn the most calories, but not only when you’re working out. Our body expends energy all day long, simply breathing requires energy, and women who have a higher muscle mass actually burn more calories than those who don’t.

Research from the American Council on Exercise shows that one pound of muscle burns 7 – 10 calories per day, while one pound of fat only burns 2 – 3 calories.

Shapely legs + bonus calorie burn during time spent on Pinterest = win-win!

They improve mobility and keep you functionally fit: Of course you want to look good in your honeymoon bikini, but shapely legs have more benefit than that. Exercises that strengthen your legs — especially the ones I share with you on Mind Body Bride — also improve mobility in your joints and ligaments, engage your core muscles and keep your body in prime condition for everyday movements, such as squatting to pick up a grocery bag or dancing the night away at your rehearsal dinner.

If resistance training hasn’t been a big part of your wedding workout routine now is the time to change that. Grab a mat and join me for this 360º Pilates leg workout and shape beautiful, feminine legs that make you look and feel amazing.

Bridal Bootcamp: The Strapless Dress Workout

Today’s wedding workout has three main benefits: to tone your arms, to improve your cardio, and to make you feel like a total badass. I’ve chosen moves that will primarily target your upper body (hello strapless dress), but there’s also a good bit of love shown to your abs and legs. When I edited this…

Why Brides Need To Rethink Weight Loss

I don’t want to be another health expert who stands here and says: “living at your ideal weight is easy”. Because for many women the ability to create a body and life that they love seems needlessly complicated, and even unattainable. I get it. For many years I struggled with low self-esteem, eating disorders, and…

Bridal Bootcamp: Full Body Bridal Workout

Tie those laces ladies; bridal bootcamp is in session! All you need for this workout is lots of energy, and maybe an exercise mat! Even if you don’t have that energy right now, I want you to do the workout anyway. Remember that exercise actually boosts your energy, improves your mood, and is just a generally…

Healthy Date Ideas On A Wedding Budget

Stuck in another date rut? Wedding planning killing your love life? I get it. While getting takeout from your local spot and watching movies on Netflix is fun, sometimes you need to bust out of that comfort zone. If saving for the wedding has your purse strings pulled tight, then hitting up expensive bars and restaurants might…
