Kombucha Cocktail Recipe: A Healthy Summer Sip!

Summer has officially arrived in the US, and so has wedding season, which brings to mind one very important event — cocktail hour! Whether you’re after a celebratory sip, or just a new summer staple, I have the perfect idea. Today’s recipe is for a kombucha cocktail that is pretty, healthy and sweet … just like you!

Why You Want This

Because whoever decided that you shouldn’t drink before your own wedding was just cray-cray-crazy. Saying that, cutting back on added sugars is a good idea, which is simple to do with this fun fermented beverage.

Why You Need This

Fermented foods should be a regular addition to your bridal diet, or anyone’s diet for that matter, as they help to maintain the healthy bacteria in your gut. This bacteria aids digestion and helps you to absorb more nutrients from the food that you eat — both quick wins when it comes to getting that bridal glow.

Tell Me More About Kombucha

Kombucha is a fermented beverage that is rich in enzymes and probiotics, and it has leapt to popularity in the western world over the past few years. But for all the touted health benefits floating around on the internet, there isn’t a lot of scientific research that proves kombucha is in fact the miracle beverage that some claim it to be.

However, just because it probably doesn’t cure cancer (yep, that’s one of the claims), this drink still does pack a nutritional punch, and a kombucha cocktail is still a much, much better choice than your normal, sugary, mixers.

You can get kombucha in a wide variety of flavors but make sure that you read the nutritional label, as sugars per serve can range from anywhere between 2g and 15g! My go-to brands are Health-Ade and GT’s.

Simple, Summer Time Kombucha Cocktail

Serves 4

  • 1 – 8oz bottle of kombucha
  • 4 shots of your favorite gin, vodka or white rum
  • Seltzer / club soda (optional)
  • 1 lime, quartered, & fresh berries to garnish

Chill  glasses in the fridge for 20 minutes. In each glass add one shot of your liquor of choice. Half fill glass with cold kombucha. Top with seltzer*. Garnish with fresh lime and berries.

*You can use just kombucha if you prefer, instead of topping it off with seltzer, but then I find it hard to taste the alcohol …which can be a recipe for disaster! Totally up to you, but if you’re only using kombucha you will need two bottles.

Now I’d Love To Hear From You

With love,

Jennifer Dene XO

P.S. You can make a beautiful kombucha champagne cocktail for the morning of your wedding by combining two parts sparkling wine to one part kombucha. Less alcohol. Less sugar. Total celebration!
